Thinking back to the beginning

Image
As I reflect on the beginning of the journey of becoming a author I had to think about all the bumps and bruises along the way.  I tell everyone we all have a story within us and I didn't know at the time my story was from pain, hurt and grief. I was lost and didn't know where to turn but my words saved my life. I had been writing my feelings in my journal the words I couldn't vocalize yet. I made the decision that by sharing this was my chance to share my experience to help someone else and realized I helped myself.  I had done research and found a self publishing company that fit all of my needs at the time . I needed someone to hold me accountable and keep me on a timetable. I was working full time at the same time  and had finished getting my Masters degree. I was already in the writing groove of writing term papers , thesis so I took my tuition reimbursement money and clicked on the button submit . The rest is hi...

Every reader should attend this

Image
As an independent author you want to find a location where you can meet the readers, have a conversation with them about what they like to read, and also talk to other authors. I found the most important event that I have to attend annually is the National Book Club Conference. I save the date for every year the first weekend in August, book my flight and travel to Atlanta Georgia for the best weekend to soak everything in. National Book Club Conference Foundation, Inc., is a literary organization founded by author Curtis Bunn that ...
