πŸ’– Open Your Heart for What’s In Store

Image
πŸ’– Open Your Heart for What's In Store By Patricia A. Saunders | Blessed and Curvy Let's talk about heart posture. Sometimes, we enter a new season guarded—hesitant to hope, afraid to expect too much, or weighed down by past disappointments. Life can bruise us, and it's only natural to protect ourselves. But here's the truth: you can't fully receive what's ahead if your heart is closed to it. Opening your heart doesn't mean forgetting what you've been through. It means allowing space for growth, love, joy, and new opportunities. It means trusting that your purpose is still unfolding, and the best may be yet to come. Whether you're navigating a transition, healing from loss, or chasing a long-held dream—this is your reminder to: Release the fear that's been holding you back Embrace what makes you unique, strong, and worthy Welcome the next chapter with boldness and faith Believe that you are not too late, too much, or too little Bei...

The Beauty of Second Chances

Image
The Beauty of Second Chances By Patricia A. Saunders There’s something sacred about a second chance. It’s like a quiet whisper from the universe that says, “You’re not done yet.” For anyone who’s ever felt like giving up — I want to share a piece of my story as proof that even in the darkest moments, light can find you. In 2006 , my life shifted in the most painful way. I lost my mother, the woman who had been my rock, my confidante, my constant. Grief consumed me. Just when I thought I couldn’t take any more, 2007 came with another blow: I had to sell my house . No job. No place to call home. I was standing at what felt like rock bottom. I did the only thing I knew how to do: I prayed . I asked for guidance. I asked for strength. I asked for a second chance. And it came. A  janitor —yes , a janitor—at a former apartment complex where I once lived, vouched for me when I needed a place to stay. He saw something in me that reminded him I was worth helping. Then came ...

Facing Challenges with Faith and Confidence

Image
Facing Challenges with Faith and Confidence Life rarely follows a smooth, predictable path. Each of us encounters obstacles, disappointments, and seemingly insurmountable challenges that test our resolve and shake our foundations. During these difficult seasons, the twin pillars of faith and confidence can provide the stability and strength needed to persevere. The Power of Faith During Adversity Faith serves as an anchor during life's storms. Whether expressed through religious belief or a deep trust in something greater than ourselves, faith provides a perspective that extends beyond our immediate circumstances. When we face challenges with faith, we acknowledge that our current struggles are part of a larger journey—one with purpose and meaning, even when that purpose isn't immediately clear. Faith reminds us that we are not alone in our struggles. It connects us to communities of support, ancestral wisdom, and spiritual resources that have sustained countless others through...

Moving Forward

Image
Greetings to All,       It has been a gap since I last blogged but I wanted to come back and share my thoughts. A lot has  happened since the last post. In politics, we have a new President and the First Black Female Vice  President. In healthcare, we have as a world been hit with Covid-19 and so many are dying from  complications.  You have so many that are impacted by losing jobs, their shelter, and are on the brink  of losing it all.       You can't turn on the television or look at  social media without seeing states, towns and countries  being shut down and everyone handling it different.  Those who are working from home have a  different level of stress and are triggered by anything because there's no escape.       As we are entering into 2021, we are hoping for new beginnings. It's not like the years prior where  you have a list of goals and resolutions that you ho...

Grief

Image
What made me write was the death of my mother! I had so many emotions pinned up that I felt I was in it alone and no one could understand. I took out my journal and the words bled onto the pages. Flooded by tears I went through not just grieving her, I went back to my childhood and memories that I had hid in the back of my mind came forth. I grieved a part of myself that I left in Connecticut, I grieved relationships that were gone, and I grieved a job that was my life. I wrote so much until my family begged me to stopped. I was drowning in my grief and I needed to come back. It was through the ministers at my church that prayed for me, called me,  on occasion had me to come out of the house and talk. Talking through my feeling that I had lost my mother on my watch! I had prepared all appointments, I had taken her to the doctors, and yet I was caught off guard. She had Alzheimer's, I remember the doctor saying if she wants cheesecake let her have it, ...

A Sister's Love

Image
A Sister's Love Growing up I was the youngest of 13 siblings. I had one in particular who took the role at the age of 11 to be the Second Momma. She would babysit me, as she got older her job was to make sure I ate, bathe and did my homework. She was a teenager and I did everything that she did. She applied Noxzema to her face for teenage acne well here I am right behind her when she went to school putting it on my face. She would put ketchup on her collard greens well here I go doing the same thing again. When she started dating her boyfriend who is now her husband I was scared that our relationship would change. On her wedding day my nose was bleeding because I was afraid my sister was going to leave me forever. Our relationship didn't change if anything I was calling her to talk on the phone like she was next store, when I could I was taking the bus to spend weekends with her until I learned to drive. She later moved to California and when I was in my ...

Body Of Armor- Unconsciously Putting on Weight to Protect Myself

Image
Body of Armor Growing up  one’s appearance was a significant factor that my mother instilled into each of her children. We were told we were beautiful, handsome and take pride in your appearance.  As a child I loved to play dress up and shopping for clothing was more than a necessity it was an obsession for myself. Scrolling through my childhood pictures I was ready for the camera at any time. My mother's living room was packed with picture frames of all of her children.  During middle school I found that I loved food more than clothing and accessories and by the seventh grade I was wearing a woman’s size 18 clothing. The suggestion of my older sister she talked my parents into letting me go to modeling school. I learned how to walk properly, apply makeup and again take pride in my appearance. I was soon losing weight, competing in fashion shows and getting attention from the opposite sex. I was subscribing to fashion magazines, watching televisio...
