Broken Heart

I sat in the hair salon when a woman handed me her IPad. She clicked on the video and I thought I was watching fake news. There was a car speeding into a crowd, you heard the crash and then it went into reverse. I saw what appeared to be a sneaker being dragged by the fender. In amazement it wasn't fake it was real! As the day unfolded and I looked at the news, social media, and listened to the stories my heart was broken. I as a 52 year old African American woman, who grew up in Connecticut, to parents raised in the South. I felt that what my relatives had endured to make a better life for myself and others was now threatened. That the ignorance of others who don't know their true history is about to have our country go to war with each other.Instead we should be uniting as a country because there is so much change taking place outside of the United States that this is a distraction.  A dangerous distraction.
