I'm Back
I know it has been some time since I posted on my blog. I never tthought the pandemic had an impact on
on me but it did. I had no desire to pick up my laptop and let my words flow. The very thing I had as my
mantra was "Letting the words flow until the pen stops". I felt those words would be my last if I inherited
Alzheimer's not that I didn't have the desire anymore.
At the beginning of the pandemic when everything shut down for what was supposed to be two weeks
was two years. I was excited at the beginning of 2020 because I had released a new book and was going to
travel to promote it and was looking forward to sharing my words. Instead, I had to look for various ways
to stay in front of the wave. I was doing zoom meetings where I did readings, I did workshops on "How
to Publish a Book", and I still felt missing. Four Seasons of Love didn't meet the expectations.
Slowly what I did was start journaling and the words started creeping back in. Speaking with others who
we're experiencing depression of not being around people, the creative side feeling stagnant, and trying
to get back in the writer's seat again was becoming common.
Events kept getting rescheduled, to health concerns, and family members going through health scares it
was getting discouraging. I was ready to quit writing and give up!
When you have to take back your joy and claim your victory! I could have easily given up and stopped
writing but I had to remember what I had set out to do when I started writing my first book in 2012. I
wanted to share my words especially when tomorrow isn't promised to anyone. Sharing my words it
opened doors to my motivational speaking. Telling my story of my journey helped others who might
have been in the same place of grief, hostile work environments, and other curveballs that the world
throws. I didn't want anyone to feel that they were the only ones.
