She's Invisible
Times have changed from Helen Reddy singing I Am Woman Hear Me Roar !
Women are working in Corporate America, some are the breadwinners for their homes
and the men are stay at home dads. There are more conferences to attend to inspire
the women on how to be heard, to be taken seriously and to not have to sleep our way up the ladder.

I attended a workshop and the guest speaker said have you ever been in a room and
there's a discussion where you know the solution but no one hears you? Yes!
Then five minutes later a male coworker paraphrases what you said and everyone hears them? Yes!
Do you feel invisible? The women young and old responded. YES!
In the year 2019 we still have women getting paid less than their male counterparts.
You have more and more women coming out and saying that they were sexually harassed,
sexually assaulted, and were told that they can only move up if they accept advances from males
who are in power.

You have women afraid to speak up, play down their education, and will accept treatment because
they feel that they won't be heard. More women are either not having children or waiting to have them
because they don't want to not be considered strong or classified as not committed because
the employer know that they will be out for maternity leave. Some women will go back sooner
or while they are out supposed to be healing and taking care of their child, they're working to stay
current with the work.

There are more women getting into politics, seeking higher education, and choosing positions
that were deemed for males. For example, high ranking military positions, pilots and heads
of companies. They are kicking in the doors of the "Old Boys Club" and daring to be heard and seen.

Women are considered nurturer, mother figures and the fixer to come with a solution
which might have been taught to many from their mothers. We are told don't show emotion,
don't cry in front of anyone because they will think you handle the pressure. Gone are the days
that a woman is thought of a barefoot and pregnant. She has choices to choose what she
wants to be, how she wants to do it and figure it out later.

I had a discussion with a career coach recently and she said we take pride in our work
and will see a position and analyze the requirement. If there are 4 our 10 things we can
do we won't apply for the job but what a male will do is go for it. He might have a friend,
acquaintance or fraternity brother get him in.

Women let's break the cycle of being invisible to those who don't see us.
It doesn't matter the race, sexual orientation, or age if no one sees you in the room.
Take the cloak off and apply ourselves, come to the table with solutions, and don't be afraid of anything. We are strong in the sense that we can put on a mask and handle the test. We are intelligent with having a sense to read people and predict the outcome. We can multitask, balance a budget and lead .

We are role models for those coming behind us and we want our daughters,
granddaughters and others to know we are no longer invisible we are invincible.
